VAERS Data, Vermont

Today, I was finally able to get into the VAERS database to find out what, if any, reports have been submitted to VAERS from Vermont regarding the Covid 19 vaccine.

If you are unaware, VAERS stands for Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System. From their website:

Established in 1990, the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) is a national early warning system to detect possible safety problems in U.S.-licensed vaccines. VAERS is co-managed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). VAERS accepts and analyzes reports of adverse events (possible side effects) after a person has received a vaccination. Anyone can report an adverse event to VAERS. Healthcare professionals are required to report certain adverse events and vaccine manufacturers are required to report all adverse events that come to their attention.

Also of note, Vermont law has a statute relating to VAERS:

A health care practitioner administering vaccinations shall report to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, in consultation with the patient, or if a minor, the patient's parent or guardian, all significant adverse events that occur after vaccination of adults and children, even if the practitioner is unsure whether a vaccine caused the adverse event. (Added 2015, No. 37, § 10.)

This is established law, as opposed to a thing like "guidance" which is not law.

After multiple unsuccessful attempts to access the VAERS data (due to maintenance, etc), I was finally able to get the info today.

Here is the link to the Vermont data regarding the Covid 19 vaccine adverse events. You can also access this data for yourself, as always. Please follow the instructions carefully, as VAERS can be difficult to navigate if you are unfamiliar with it.

Both the Pfizer-BioNTech (fact sheet) and the Moderna vaccine (fact sheet) are available in Vermont

There are 45 symptoms listed with 185 different events including anaphylactic reaction, blood pressure increased, chest pain, dyskinesia, paresthesia, tachycardia, eye and facial pain, falling, and vomiting.

There are 19 reports of injection site symptoms, 8 of dizziness, 8 of fatigue, 9 of nausea, 5 of throat tightness, 5 of rash, and 1 death.

According to the Vermont Department of Health, 38.9k people have received both doses with 117.9K total doses administered.

While healthcare practitioners in Vermont, specifically, shall report all significant adverse events that occur after vaccination, a 2011 Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare study suggests that fewer than 1% of adverse events are, indeed, reported.

If the findings of the aforementioned study are correct, could there have been many more adverse events after the Covid vaccine in Vermont since this vaccine arrived on December, 14, 2020, about two months ago?
