Firearms as a tool for Liberty

Hello fellow Patriots and Neighbors,

I saw that the 2A section had no posts so I figured that I would kick it off. As I'm sure you're familiar, The Constitution of the US cements the right of a citizen to "keep and bear arms." During the revolutionary war, our forefathers learned that an armed populace is a free populace. According to this, it's fitting that anyone committed to liberty should familiarize themselves with firearms, and consider making the investment of purchasing or building one.

Not only is it an exercise in your second amendment rights: having a firearm and knowing how to use it makes a citizen independent of government for their own protection should the need arise. I encourage every citizen to learn about and invest in a firearm for both of these reasons.

It is not tremendously difficult or expensive to purchase or build your own firearms in Vermont. While purchasing a firearm in a gun store is fairly straightforward (includes passing a background check, registering the firearm in your name), building your own rifle is a viable option for those who are able to legally possess one.
